How to compare settlement funding offers
Compare the cash you would receive and the amount that could be owed at the same future dates. A headline rate or advertised approval time does not describe the complete agreement.

Use one comparison sheet
For each proposal, record the provider, date, net cash received, deductions, charges and quoted repayment amounts at six, twelve and eighteen months. Ask for the figures in writing and use the same dates for every offer. This is a comparison method, not a recommendation to take funding.
Ask how the balance grows
Ask whether charges are simple or compound, how often they accrue, whether there is a cap and when charges stop. Ask what happens if the case lasts beyond the illustrated dates or you request more money. Have the provider explain every fee that changes the amount received or owed.
Review outcome conditions
Ask what happens if there is no recovery or less money than expected. Ask about exceptions, payment directions, liens or assignments, disputes and cancellation terms. Have your attorney review the complete agreement and its effect on your eventual proceeds. Marketing labels do not replace the actual contract.
Verify the provider and applicable rules
Ask which law governs the agreement and how any required provider registration can be checked. Rules differ by state and transaction. Utah, for example, has a Maintenance Funding Practices Act with definitions and registration requirements; that example does not establish requirements elsewhere.
Utah Code: Maintenance Funding Practices Act ↗Keep the information inquiry separate
SettlementLift does not issue funding offers or decide approval. Its inquiry requests follow-up from SettlementLift or a service partner; a provider’s application and agreement are separate steps. Do not include account credentials or medical records in an inquiry.
